Mulled Apple Brandy

(Makes about 4 cups, serving 4 to 6)

Just the thing after a long day on the ski slopes
1/2 cup Gusto Apple Syrup (Sweet/Tart/Organic depending on taste)
2 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons firmly packed light brown sugar
3 whole Allspice berries
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
4 whole cloves
2 x 75mm Cinnamon sticks, broken into short lengths
1/2 Granny Smith or other tart apple, cored and sliced thinly.
1/2 cup Apple Brandy or Calvados
In a saucepan stir together apple syrup, water, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon pieces, and apple.
Cover and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
Stir in the Brandy or Calvados and increase to moderate heat.
After a few miniutes discard allspice, cloves, and cinnamon.
Divide the mulled Apple Brandy among heated mugs and garnish each drink with a few of the apple slices.
